Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Milestone in Defeat: Dak Surpasses 1,000 Career Points in Tough 62-105 Loss

BEMIDJI, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Morris Men's Basketball team traveled back to Bemidji after their win the previous night. The Cougars battled to a tough 62-105 loss on the road against Bemidji State University, and hold a 1-2 record coming out of the game.

Jumping out to an early 12-0 lead, the Beavers were unprepared for Minnesota Morris to respond with a 12-3 run kicked off by two points from Ian Fahje. Carvin Fish and Dak both scored in the paint, followed up by threes from Dom Aguilar and Dak to bring the score to 12-15. Two free throws from Jase Nelson would be the only points scored for the Cougars in the next five minutes as the Beavers launched a 17-2 run. Bemidji State continued to lengthen the scoring gap to 35 points and a score of 59-24 heading into halftime.

The Cougars struggled to put points on the board against their Division II opponent. The Beavers started the second half with a 9-2 scoring run before Minnesota Morris was able to respond with 6-0 run of their own. For the remainder of the second half, both teams traded points back and forth. The Cougars' offense put up 38 points to the Beavers' 46, but the deficit from the first half was what allowed Bemidji State to reach triple digits over Minnesota Morris.

Dak led the Cougars with thirteen points, reaching the 1,000 mark in the first half of the matchup. Aguilar put up eight points and recorded a steal on the day. Nelson came off the bench for Minnesota Morris, putting up eight points and hauling in six rebounds. Fish and Brian LaRoche Jr. each earned eight points as well off the bench.

The Cougars will head to Minneapolis, Minn. on Nov. 22 for a 7pm tip against Augsburg University.
