Box Score MAYVILLE, N.D. - The University of Minnesota Morris men's basketball team battled in a loss on the road against Mayville State University. The Cougars come away from the 54-93 loss with a 1-4 overall record on the season.
The Cougars led the matchup for the first few minutes before quickly losing momentum on offense and facing a rapidly increasing point deficit. Minnesota Morris struggled to maintain possession of the ball in the first half, resulting in multiple scoring runs for Mayville State to give them a 52-23 lead heading into halftime.
Minnesota Morris responded to their first half performance with an intense defensive effort in the second half of the game. Scoring 31 points in the half, the Cougars kept Mayville to 41, allowing just four offensive rebounds and effectively shutting down scoring runs from the Comets. With a lower scoring second half for the Comets, Minnesota Morris finished the game with a 39 point deficit against the home team.
Dom Aguilar led the Cougars in scoring with twelve points, tacking on four rebounds and three assists. Pal Dak earned seven points and five rebounds of his own while Brian LaRoche Jr. came off the bench and dropped eight points for Minnesota Morris.
The Cougars will face Mayville State against Dec. 3 on James Gremmels Court. The matchup is scheduled for a 5:30 pm tip-off.
