Women’s Swim and Dive Defeats Midland University in Tri-Meet

FREMONT, Neb. - The University of Minnesota Morris Women's Swim & Dive team competed against Midland University and Nebraska Wesleyan University Nov. 1-2. The Cougars kicked off the weekend with a tri-meet against the two teams, beating Midland 107-99 and falling to Nebraska Wesleyan 66-144. Traveling to Lincoln, Neb., Minnesota Morris then faced off against Nebraska Wesleyan Nov. 2, falling 58-140.

Brynna York kicked things off for the Cougars with a first place finish in 1 meter diving, finishing with a final score of 201.30. Minnesota Morris notched three top-three finishes in the 1650 yard freestyle from McKenna Falak, Rita Erickson, and Natalie West who swam 19:17.81, 20:50.66, and 21:22.30 respectively. Lilly Radintz marked her own third place finish in the 200 yard freestyle, swimming in 2:06.26. Falak took another first place finish in the 500 yard freestyle, smashing her seed time and swimming 5:35.34. The Cougars closed out the day with a close fourth place finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay. The team of Radintz, Faith Hamm, Falak, and Kennedy Olson came together for a time of 3:55.19.

Nebraska Wesleyan, 140 - Minnesota Morris, 58

The relay of Falak, Kaitlyn Mello, Hamm, and Eve Zimmerman started the day out with a third place finish in the 200 yard medley relay, finishing with a time of 2:04.65. In the very next event of the meet, Falak won the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:38.62. West took third in the event, coming in with a time of 13:09.89. Radintz kept things going for the Cougars, winning the 200 yard freestyle by five seconds, marking a time of 2:07.29. Samantha Haaf and Olson finished second and third in the 200 yard butterfly, swimming times of 2:34.63 and 2:39.43 respectively. Radintz took another top-three finish on the day with a time of 56.79 in the 100 yard freestyle. Erickson and Hamm found second and third place finishes in the 500 yard freestyle with 5:55.21 and 6:02.71 finishes respectively. Minnesota Morris wrapped up the weekend with a third place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:48.21. The team was composed of Radintz, Olson, Rylie Wendt, and Zimmerman. 

The Cougars will compete again at home on Nov. 16 against Iowa Lakes Community College. The meet is scheduled for a 10 am start in Cougar Pool.
