MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris is heading to face the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on March 1 in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament. The Cougars and Warhawks are scheduled for a 7:45 p.m. start as the second game of a doubleheader.
Minnesota Morris reached the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time since 2014-15 thanks to a 69-60 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Superior in Saturday's UMAC championship game. Tournament MVP
Maddy Grove poured in 18 points in the win over the Yellowjackets and
Shelby Mortenson came off the bench with 17 points.
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater earned the right to host an opening four-team pod after compiling a 22-4 record on the season. The Warhawks are an at-large team after falling to the University of Wisconsin-Stout, 69-59, in the semifinals of the WIAC Tournament.
The other first round game to take place in Whitewater pits Millikin University (22-5), an at-large team out of the CCIW, against Willamette University (17-9), another at-large team from the NWC.
