MORRIS, Minn. - Coming off of a record-breaking year for University of Minnesota Morris softball, Associate Coach
Brendan Goler has announced his resignation from the program, effective July 3. Goler's new position is as an assistant softball coach at the University of Illinois.Â
In his time at UMN Morris, Goler helped to nurture a successful softball team through his recruiting efforts and his work with the Cougar pitchers, infielders, and catchers. Under his careful guidance, Goler's pitchers and players have entered the Morris record books in multiple categories and been chosen as UMAC All-Conference players in every year he has coached the team. The 2024 season was the best in program history as Minnesota Morris finished with school records of 28 wins and an 18-game winning streak, plus a 15-3 UMAC record that ended with the Cougars tying for the regular season conference title.
Earlier in his tenure at Minnesota Morris, Goler also served as the assistant coach for the women's soccer program for two seasons and the men's soccer program for five seasons. He was a dual-sport athlete during his career at Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill, playing three seasons of men's soccer and spending one season as a kicker with the football program.Â
Minnesota Morris will soon begin a national search for a new assistant softball coach as the Cougars look to build on the incredible success of the 2024 season.
