BISMARCK, N.D. - The University of Minnesota Morris men's track & field team kicked off the indoor season at the Marauders 2025 Indoor Opener. The team scored sixth overall on the day, with five Cougars scoring points.
The scoring for the team came in the 800 meter race, where Minnesota Morris claimed finishes 3-7. Azariah Zappeta (2:15.90) led the Cougars with his third place finish. He was followed by Noah Johnson (2:24.45), Christopher Tveitbakk (2:37.06), Tyler Franke (2:38.15), and William Urch (2:41.95).
Sam Gifford was the final top ten finish on the day, earning ninth in the 300 m with a time of 38.23.
Mason Arens was the lone jumper for the Cougars, placing 15th in the long jump with a leap of 17-0.75 (5.35m).
In throws for Minnesota Morris, Conor Thornbrugh took a 15th place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 38-0.25 (11.59m).
The Cougars will head to Saint John's University Jan. 25 to continue the indoor season.
