SIOUX CITY, I.A. - The University of Minnesota Morris men's swimming & diving team traveled to Morningside College for their final meet before heading to the Liberal Arts Championship Feb. 12-15 in Racine, Wis. The Cougars fell 53-148 to their competition, earning just one first place finish on the day.
Minnesota Morris kicked off the scoring early, with team 'A' placing second in the 200 yard medley relay. The team of Austin Dunn, Dillon Thorstad, Riley McRoberts, and Josh Miller swam a combined time of 1:46.65 in the race. John Gulon kept things rolling with a second place finish in the 200 yard freestyle while swimming a time of 1:49.99. Dunn earned another second place finish, this time in the 200 yard IM. He swam a time of 2:11.65.
Louie Freeman saw his first top three finish of the day in the 100 yard butterfly, racing a competitive time of 59.53. In the 100 yard freestyle, Miller (53.01) took a third place finish. Two Cougars finished top three in the 100 yard backstroke. Gulon (55.04) took first place for Minnesota Morris while Elijah Slinden (1:04.72) notched a third place finish. Team 'A' for the Cougars in the 200 yard freestyle relay, consisting of Dunn, Ryan Erickson, Freeman, and Gulon, swam a time of 1:32.24 to wrap up the meet with a second place finish for Minnesota Morris.
