BISMARCK, N.D. - The University of Minnesota Morris women's track & field team opened their season at the Marauders 2025 Indoor Opener. The team notched a sixth place finish on the day, struggling to put up points against the tough field of competition.
The only scoring on the day for the Cougars came in the 800 meter race from Lindsey Hause and Abby Hachmeister. Hause recorded a sixth place finish with a time of 2:52.76 while Hachmeister (3:13.27) finished just behind in seventh.
Minnesota Morris claimed finishes 12-14 in the 200 meter run, thanks to Sydney Roy (30.95), Paige Diekmann (31.83), and Maggie Landwer (32.38).
Maggie Landwer led the trio of Cougars who competed in the long jump, finishing in 11th with a jump of 13-0 (3.96m). Julia Gorden Mercer recorded a personal record with a leap of 12-10 (3.91m) to finish 12th, while Sheena James finished 14th and recorded a jump of 12-04 (3.76m). In the triple jump, James earned a tenth place finish with a 27 (8.23m) jump.
The best finish for the Cougar throwers came from a tenth place tie between Kylie Elmes and Siri Overturf. The two threw an equal distance of 39-6.75 (12.06m) in the weight throw.
Women's track & field look to compete again at Saint John's University Jan. 25.
