MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's and women's swim and dive teams travel to Nebraska for a pair of meets. The Cougars will head to Lincoln, Neb., for a dual meet with Nebraska Wesleyan University starting at 6 p.m., on Friday followed by a meet with Midland University on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Cougars opened their season last week at the CSB/SJU Fall Invite, where both the men and women placed second.

Brynna York helped lead the Cougars with a first and third-place finish on the one and three-meter dives, respectively.
McKenna Falak and
Sam Haaf each earned a second-place finish in their first meet of the season. The relay team of Shannon Doughery, Falak,
Rylie Wendt, and
Faith Hamm placed second in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

On the men's side,
John Gulon led the way with a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle. The Cougars also took first in the 200-yard freestyle relay with the team of
Dillon Thorstad,
Austin Dunn,
Sam Oster, and
Ben Caron.

In their previous meets against Nebraska Wesleyan, the Cougar women came up short, falling 144–66 and 140–58. Falak earned a first-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:38.62, and Haaf placed second in the 200-yard butterfly.

The men also dropped both of their meets against NWU, 149–55 and 140–58.
Mark Meece finished second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:28.08. Gulon earned second in the 200-yard IM, while Dunn and
Riley McRoberts finished second and third, respectively, in the 200-yard butterfly.

Last season, the Cougar women defeated Midland University in a tri-meet, 107–99. York opened the meet with a UMM first-place finish on the one-meter dive, while Falak added two first-place finishes in the 1650-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle.

The men fell to Midland in their matchup, 169–46. Dunn recorded one of the team's best finishes, placing fourth in the 100-yard backstroke, while the 400-yard relay team also finished fourth.
