FREMONT, Neb. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's swim and dive team earned its first victory of the season with a 178-67 win over Midland University on Saturday in Fremont, Neb.
 
The Cougars opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, as the team of Lucia Rainbow, Danielle Mazzio, Brynn Saarion, and Rylie Wendt touched the wall first. Natalie West followed with a first-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle, while Abby Telander claimed second place in the same event.
 
Kaitlyn Mello added another Cougar victory with a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, with Lindsay Mello taking second. In the 200-yard butterfly, Sam Haaf came within a second of a personal best but still secured first place.
 
In diving, Brynna York won the one-meter event with a score of 183.75. Rhio Fay earned her first collegiate win in the 200-yard backstroke, and Kennedy Olson followed with a first-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke. McKenna Falak set a new personal best in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:09.44 to capture another Cougar victory.
 
Fay continued her strong meet with a win in the 200-yard individual medley, followed by teammate Shannon Dougherty in second. To close out the day, the relay team of Falak, Faith Hamm, Olson, and Dougherty won the 400-yard freestyle relay, sealing the team's dominant performance.
 
The Cougars return to action on Nov. 1 when they travel to Hamline University for a 1 p.m. meet.
