MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's basketball team continues its busy early season schedule with three games in five days.
The Cougars host Augsburg University on Friday with a 7 p.m. tip. Minnesota Morris will have the weekend off before another home game, this time against Martin Luther College on Monday at 7 p.m. The week wraps up with a road contest at Gustavus Adolphus College at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Cougars earned their first wins of the season earlier this week, defeating Oak Hills Christian College 70-61 and Trinity Bible College 78-51.
Kaden Pieper was the leading scorer with 41 combined points, including 26 against Oak Hills. He also recorded his second double-double of the season with 11 rebounds.
Matt Thompson was second in scoring with 37 points and had a double-double against Trinity Bible with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
This season, Thompson leads the team in scoring with 126 points, averaging 21.0 points per game. Pieper and
Carvin Fish aren't far behind with 91 (15.2 ppg) and 90 (15.0 ppg) respectively. UMM is shooting .430 from the field, .299 from three, and .650 at the free throw line. Four Cougars have double-digit assists, with
Gustav Gunderson pacing the team with 18.
Defensively, Thompson also leads the team in rebounds with 47, averaging 7.8 per game, with Pieper just behind at 46. Fish rounds out the top three with 33 rebounds. Pieper has a team-high nine steals, while Thompson and
Jang Dak each have five blocks.
Augsburg has started the season with a 3-1 record. In their most recent game, the Auggies defeated Marian University 70-66. Aaron Griess enters his 21st season as head coach. JJ Semanko leads the scoring with 71 points, followed by Elias Batala with 64. Isaac Rabaey leads the team defensively with 29 rebounds.
Martin Luther holds a 1-4 overall record to start the 2025-26 season. The Knights are currently on a three-game slide, dropping their most recent contest to Hamline University 90-49. Adam Loberger has led the team in scoring with 118 points, including 34 against Lakeland University in their lone win. Defensively, he also leads the team with 33 rebounds.
Gustavus has opened the season 2-0, defeating Aurora University and Rockford University 84-79 and 96-49, respectively. The Gusties will play two more games before facing the Cougars. Justin DeGrood is in his third season with the program. Leading the Gusties offensively are Andrew Quam and Myles Barnette with 34 and 32 points, respectively.
