MORRIS, Minn. – Noah Johnson of the University of Minnesota Morris men's cross country team was named to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Second Team All-Conference, as announced on Wednesday, Nov. 5. This is Johnson's first time earning UMAC postseason honors.
Â
"Noah took a risk, and it paid off," said head coach
Caroline Collet. "He's a very talented runner who doesn't always believe it, but this time he did—he put himself at the front of the race from the beginning. I'm very proud of the work he's put in this season not just to become a faster runner, but a more knowledgeable and purposeful athlete."
Â
At the UMAC Championship, Johnson broke 29 minutes for the first time in his career in the 8k. The junior ran a personal-best time of 28:52.6 to finish 16th, earning UMAC Second Team All-Conference honors. Earlier this season, Johnson also set the program record in the 4k with a time of 14:07.4.
Â
Johnson was also named to the UMAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
Â
The cross country team returns to action on Nov. 15 at the NCAA Regional Championships in Eau Claire, Wis.
