Pesch Earns Her Second Career All-Conference Honor

MORRIS, Minn. – Sylvia Pesch of the University of Minnesota Morris women's cross country team was named to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Second Team All-Conference, as announced on Wednesday, Nov. 5. This marks the junior's second career All-Conference honor.

"Sylvia ran an absolutely beautiful, strategic race," said head coach Caroline Collet. "She had an intelligent plan that played to her strengths, and followed through with courage even when the race turned out to be a fast one! She earned that All-Conference spot not just with a fantastic race day, but the consistency and purpose she's had all season."

This season, Pesch has set a personal best in six of the team's seven meets. At the UMAC Championship, she continued that trend by dropping nearly 30 seconds and running a career-best time of 24:19.6 to finish ninth. She also opened the season by earning the first UMAC Athlete of the Week award of her career.

Ava Miller named to the UMAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

The cross country team returns to action on Nov. 15 at the NCAA Regional Championships in Eau Claire, Wis.
