Women’s Basketball Starts the 2025-26 Season With Three Games in Four Days

MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's basketball team will open the 2025-26 season with three games across four days.
 
The Cougars kick off the season at the CSB Tip-Off on Friday, taking on the host College of St. Benedict at 8:15 p.m. The following day, UMM plays the College of St. Scholastica at 1 p.m. Minnesota Morris then returns home for its season opener on Monday, hosting Macalester College at 7 p.m.

In the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, the Cougars were selected first. Minnesota Morris is coming off an 11-14 overall season and a 9-5 conference record. Tim Grove enters his 20th season as the head coach of the Cougars. Maddy Grove returns for her junior season after being named UMAC Player of the Year. The Cougars also return UMAC All-Conference Honorable Mention Shelby Mortenson and UMAC All-Defensive Team honoree Itzel Salazar. In addition, Minnesota Morris brings in four first-year students and one transfer student-athlete.
 
St. Benedict finished the 2024-25 season with a 17-10 overall record and an 11-7 mark in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Head Coach Mike Durbin enters his 40th season with the Bennies. Megan Morgan finished second on the team in scoring last season, averaging 11.9 points per game, with Lauren Arnold close behind at 9.0 points per game.
 
St. Scholastica went 12-13 overall and 9-9 in the MIAC last season. The Saints are led by Jason Schmitz, who enters his fifth season as head coach. Ava Haus was the team's leading scorer in the 2024-25 season, averaging 13.8 points per game.
 
Macalester finished 12-13 last season with a 7-11 record in the MIAC. A.D. Donovan was named the new head coach of the Scots. Mary Delay was third on the team in scoring last season, averaging 8.1 points per game.
