SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The University of Minnesota Morris men's swim and dive team set two program records on the first day of the Augie Invite Thursday in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The Cougars began the day with preliminaries. In the 500-yard freestyle,
Ben Caron and
Austin Dunn both placed in the top eight in the team's first event. Later in the prelims,
John Gulon finished seventh in the 50-yard freestyle, with
Dillon Thorstad close behind in ninth.

In the evening, finals competition got underway. The team of Caron, Thorstad,
Ethan Bad Heart Bull, and Gulon set a program record in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:28.91, finishing fourth. Caron also improved his time in the 500-yard freestyle to finish fifth overall.

Sam Oster set another program record, posting a time of 2:05.67 in the 200-yard IM. In the 50-yard freestyle final, Gulon recorded a time of 21.86 to place sixth. To wrap up day one, the Cougars placed sixth in the 400-yard medley relay with the team of Dunn, Oster, Bad Heart Bull, and Gulon.
