ST. PAUL, Minn. – After competing in his first collegiate track meet,
Jerome Thomas III of the University of Minnesota Morris track and field team has been named the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Athlete of the Week for the period of Dec. 1–7, as announced Tuesday, Dec. 9.
At the Chuck Petersen Open, Thomas competed in the 60-meter dash. The Buffalo, Minn., native tied the program's sixth-fastest time with a mark of 7.15, finishing 13th in the event. Thomas was named the UMAC Track Athlete of the Week and is the first Cougar to win this award since
Jacob Lee in the 2023-24 season.
The track and field team will be back in action on Jan. 17 at the Ole Open.
