Boss Chases School Record at Saint John’s/Saint Benedict’s Invitational

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Morris men's and women's track and field teams headed to Saint John's University for the second time this indoor season. The Cougars placed well in a tough field of competition on both sides.

Izayah Boss kicked off the meet with an electric race in the 60m Sprint. He finished third place after running a 7.02 in the finals. Boss' time also secures him a place tied for second in the Cougar Indoor Track & Field record book.

Noah Johnson and Azariah Zappetta kept things going in the 800m race, finishing 10th and 13th with times of 2:09.56 and 2:11.17 respectively. Will Urch earned seventh in the 5000m race with a time of 21:35.01. Evan Barnett was the only field athlete for the men to finish in the top 15, marking a height of 1.78m (5-10.00) to finish in 13th. The Minnesota Morris men wrapped up the meet with an 11th place finish in the 4x200m relay. The team of Sam Gifford, Bryson Drake, Chann Piseth, and Boss ran a time of 1:38.15. 

On the women's side, Sylvia Pesch raced a time of 20:41.05 in the 5000m race to mark an 11th place finish. Lindsey Hause, securing a personal record, made a jump of 1.42m (4-07.75) in the high jump to finish in 14th. Siri Overturf wrapped things up for the women with a 12.08m (39-07.75) toss in the Weight Throw to finish in 15th place.

Cougar Track & Field will head to Bethel University Feb. 22 for their last contest before the UMAC Indoor Championships.
