NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Morris track & field teams headed out to Carleton College to compete against some tough Division III competition. The women came out of the day with a seventh place finish, with all the scoring coming from an impressive showing by the throwers.
In jumps for the Cougars, Lindsey Hause earned a tenth place finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.38m (4-06.25) while Julia Gorden Mercer finished ninth in the triple jump after hitting a distance of 8.15m (26-09.00).
It was the throwers who earned points for the Minnesota Morris women's track & field team on the day, starting off with a seventh and eighth place finish in the shot put. Both Amaya Willis (7th) and Natalie Enright (8th) earned personal records for their put performances with Willis marking 10.59m (34-09.00) and Enright finishing with 10.41m (34-02.00). In the weight throw, Willis earned the best finish of the day for the Cougars at third place while throwing a personal best of 13.14m (43-01.50). Anna Briggs made a toss of 12.52m (41-01.00) to mark a fifth place finish.
The Cougars will head back to Collegeville, Minn. to compete at Saint John's University on Feb. 15.
