SUPERIOR, Wis. - The University of Minnesota Morris women's track & field team earned sixth place as a team at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Championships, with multiple Cougars earning season bests and personal records over the weekend.
Nibras Luqman got scoring rolling early for Minnesota Morris, running a time of 8.61 in the 60m finals to take seventh. Luqman followed that performance up with a season best time of 28.90 in the 200m run to take ninth. Sylvia Pesch dropped a 3000m run personal record of 11:26.90 to take eighth.
The Cougar throwers dominated the top-ten placing in Shot Put, earning fifth, sixth, eighth, and tenth. Kylie Elmes (5th) made a mark of 11.02m (36-02.00) with Natalie Enright (6th) just behind her teammate with a toss of 10.51m (34-05.75). Anna Briggs (8th) and Amaya Willis (10th) marked throws of 10.24m (33-07.25) and 9.48m (31-01.25) respectively. Sheena James marked a distance of 8.20m (26-11.00) in the Triple Jump to finish tenth on the day. Brynna York rounded out the field events with a first place finish in Pole Vault after clearing 2.85m (9-04.25). Maggie Landwer and Siri Overturf finished in fourth and eighth respectively in the Pole Vault, clearing 2.40m (7-10.50).
The 4x400m relay of Paige Diekmann, Sydney Roy, Lindsey Hause, and Elizabeth Hause ran a time of 4:34.48 to finish sixth in the field.
The Cougars will take next weekend off before jumping right back into action at the Marauders Outdoor Invite on Mar. 22.
