MANKATO, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Morris faced a tough field of competition at the Minnesota State Open, but the Cougars persevered to come away from the day with multiple personal records and two top-ten school record performances. The Cougars will head to Saint John's University Apr. 17 as they begin to gear up for the UMAC Outdoor Championships.Â
Lindsey Hause opened up the scoring on the women's side, finishing the 3000m Steeple in 14:07.90 the finish in seventh overall. Amaya Willis, a first year star for the Cougars, launched a toss of 37.70m (123-00) to climb her way to sixth all-time for Discus Throw in the Cougar record book. Her throw was also a personal record, and earned her a ninth place finish. Natalie Enright was the second athlete to mark a place in the record book with a toss of 11.66m (38-03.25) in the Shot Put. Her throw placed her at tenth in the record book and earned her a 16th place finish in Mankato. Brynna York was the third top-ten finish for Minnesota Morris with a Pole Vault height of 2.90m (9-06.25) to take ninth overall.Â
On the men's side, the scoring came from Noah Johnson and Ethan Koehler as they finished fourth and eighth respectively in the 3000m Steeple. Johnson finished with a time of 11:09.76 while Koehler marked a time of 12:47.02. Evan Barnett was the third Cougar to breach the top-ten on the day, finishing ninth in High Jump with a height of 1.82m (5-11.50).Â
