Cougars Shine at Carleton Relays

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Going up against a tough field of MIAC and WIAC opponents, the University of Minnesota Morris men's & women's track & field teams held their own. The Cougars recorded 26 top-ten finishes on the day to remain competitive against their opponents. Minnesota Morris will head to St. Paul, Minn. next week ahead of the UMAC Outdoor Championships.

On the men's side, Bryson Drake and JT Garza kicked things off with fourth and seventh place finishes in the 100m, running times of 11.63 and 11.67 respectively. Hayden Charboneau kept things rolling with a 16.53 time in the 110m Hurdles to take third on the day. Garza posted a time of 23.67 in the 200m to secure fifth place. In the 3000m Steeple, Noah Johnson and Ethan Koehler posted times of 10:32.63 and 12:03.95 to take second and fourth in the race. Enza Agenzo earned fifth place in the 5000m with a time of 22:35.86. Keeping things rolling in the field, Gregory Ohman made a toss of 36.95m (121-02) in the Discus Throw to take sixth while Conor Thornbrugh and Kincade Eisenbacher took third and seventh in the Hammer Throw. Thornbrugh recorded a heave of 44.01m (144-04) with Eisenbacher marking 32.44m (106-05). Evan Barnett and Mason Arens made appearances for the Cougars at the High Jump and took fifth and seventh respectively. Barnett leaped 1.75m (5-08.75) while Arens made it to 1.65m (5-05.00). Rounding out the throwers for Minnesota Morris, Eisenbacher took ninth in the Shot Put with a toss of 10.31m (33-10.00). The lone relay of Izayah Boss, Garza, Charboneau, and Drake recorded a time of 44.36 in the 4x100m to take third place. 

On the women's side for the Cougars, Eve Zimmerman recorded the first top-ten finish with a seventh place finish in the 400m Hurdles while running a time of 1:18.15. Sylvia Pesch earned third in the 5000m as she crossed the finish line in 19:30.29. The women's throwers continued their impressive performances as Jordan Ohman-Bjork and Amaya Willis finished second and fifth in the Discus Throw. Ohman-Bjork marked a distance of 37.59m (123-04) while Willis recorded a 33.96m (111-05) distance. In the Hammer Throw, Siri Overturf, Willis, and Enright secured fourth, eighth, and tenth for Minnesota Morris. Overturf's final distance was 41.22m (135-03), Willis marked 36.88m (121-00), and Enright made a toss of 35.01m (114-10). Ohman-Bjork kept things going with a fourth place finish in the Javelin Throw after throwing 30.69m (100-08) and Enright secured seventh in the Shot Put with a toss of 10.88m (35-08.50). Lindsey Hause marked a final distance of 1.35m (4-05.00) in the High Jump to take fourth while Brynna York and Overturf recorded vaults of 2.60m (8-06.25) and 2.45m (8-00.50) to take eighth and ninth respectively in the Pole Vault.
