MANKATO, Minn. - Facing off against Bethany Lutheran College, the University of Minnesota Morris totaled up seven hits on the day but faced a 2-6 scoring gap in the seventh inning. The two teams will go head-to-head again Apr. 26 with the first pitch scheduled for 1 pm.Â
It was the Cougars who opened the scoring first on the day as Jillian Anderson drove a double to left center that brought in Alyssa Thornton and Taylor Johnson to score in the third. The Vikings picked up their first run in the third, scoring in each inning after that while holding the Cougars scoreless.Â
Thornton went 2-4 at the plate while Johnson went 2-3 for the Cougars. Cougar hits on the day came from Sierra Stevens, Thornton (2), Anderson, Kennedy Biegler, and Johnson (2). In the circle, Thornton threw four strikeouts, nine flyouts, and five groundouts on the day.
