Softball Finishes Season Against Northwestern

MANKATO, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Morris' season ended in a heartbreaking loss to the University of Northwestern. The Cougars would give up eight runs on the day while struggling at the plate and only scoring one of their own.

A five-run inning for the Eagles in the fourth put the Cougars in a deep 7-0 point deficit despite having runners in scoring range in the third inning. The first mark on the board for Minnesota Morris came from Alyssa Thornton after she made her way around the bases and was driven home on a long single from Jillian Anderson. Unable to push more runs across the plate, the Cougars took the 1-8 loss to close out the season.

Six different Cougars had hits on the day while Anderson picked up the lone RBI. Thornton was walked twice on the day to see the bases three times and score one run. In the circle for Minnesota Morris, Thornton and Morgan Wilhelm had four strikeouts, 10 flyouts, and three groundouts.
