MORRIS, Minn. - Following day one of the UMAC Outdoor Championships, the University of Minnesota Morris sits in fifth place as a team. The Cougars' recorded nine scoring performances on both the track and in field events, and look to improve their score tomorrow, Apr. 3.
Izayah Boss, James Hughes, and JT Garza qualified for the 100m finals with times of 11.04, 11.14, and 11.30 respectively. Hayden Charboneau qualified for the 110m Hurdles finals with a time of 16.89. All final heats will be run tomorrow, Apr. 3, for the 100m and 110m Hurdles.Â
Boss and Garza earned fifth and seventh respectively in the 200m with times of 22.81 and 23.01. Charboneau scored for the Cougars with an eighth place finish in the 400m Hurdles while racing a time of 1:05.70.
Noah Johnson raced the 3000m Steeplechase and earned a fourth place finish after racing a final time of 10:29.72.
Conor Thornbrugh secured a UMAC title in the Hammer Throw, launching a toss of 49.56m. In the Javelin Throw, Boss and Thornbrugh took fifth and sixth respectively with distances of 44.47m and 42.31.
Mason Arens took seventh in the Long Jump with a leap of 6.00m. The men's 4x800m Relay team of
Azariah Zappetta,
Ethan Koehler,
Christopher Tveitbakk, and Tyler Franke took seventh with a time of 9:32.11.Â
