WAVERLY, Iowa – The University of Minnesota Morris Women's Cross Country team kicked off its 2025 season placing fourth at the John Kurt Invitational. Junior
Sylvia Pesch led the Cougars, setting a new personal record with a time of 20:47.9.
"We were excited to get out there and achieve as a team," stated head coach
Caroline Collet. "Obviously a great day across the board, but I was really excited to see how well out middle pack worked together. I'd also like to shoutout Abhi for her first ever 5k-she demonstrated a lot of grit and determination out there today."
Wartburg College won the meet, with their top five finishers claiming the top five positions. Haley Meyer won the race with a time of 18:30.1. The Cougars finished fourth in their first meet of the 2025 season. All five Minnesota Morris runners set new career records in the 5k race.
