Stevenson new Sprints Coach at Minnesota Morris

Morris, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Morris is pleased to announce the hiring of Randy Stevenson as the new assistant cross country and track & field coach.

"Randy brings over 5 years of collegiate coaching experience to our cross country and track and field programs," stated Director of Athletic Matt Johnson. " His knowledge of sprints and jumps coupled with his experience in XC made him the ideal candidate to join the Cougar family.  I'm excited to see his impact on Cougar student-athletes.  "

Prior to joining Minnesota Morris, Stevenson was an assistant track and field coach at Central Washington University. While with the Wildcats, he specialized in developing athletes in sprints, jumps, and hurdles. During his five-year tenure, Stevenson helped coach 31 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Individual Champions, 23 national qualifiers, saw 51 new school records set, 84 All-Conference performances, 12 All-Americans, and three National Champions.

"I feel really excited to be offered a position like this where I can continue to grow in my coaching career and help elevate the track and field program here in Morris," said Stevenson. "I'm looking forward to rebuilding the sprints and jumps program and bringing something that has not been done before. Division III is a whole new environment for me, so I'm also looking forward to the challenges this job will bring and how I will navigate and overcome them."

Stevenson earned a degree in Sport Management from Central Washington University, graduating Cum Laude. He went on to complete a Master's degree in Athletic Administration at CWU. Additionally, he holds a USATF Level 1 certification.
