ST. PAUL, Minn. – Sylvia Pesch and
Aaron Mackall have been named Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Athletes of the Week for the opening week of the 2025 fall season.

Pesch, a junior on the University of Minnesota Morris Cross Country team, competed last week at the John Kurtt Invite. The Pelican Rapids, Minn., native led the Cougars with a time of 20:47.9, setting a new personal best in the 5K. This marks the first UMAC Athlete of the Week honor of her collegiate career.

Mackall, a senior on the Minnesota Morris Men's Soccer team, made an immediate impact in the season opener. The Nerstrand, Minn., native scored twice in the first 10 minutes, helping the Cougars to a 5-0 win. In addition to his two goals, he recorded an assist, finishing with five points. This is the second five-point game with the Cougars and the second time he has been named UMAC Offensive Player of the Week.

Women's Cross Country competes next on Friday Sept. 5 at the Dragon Twilight Invitational in Moorhead, Minn.

The Men's Soccer team is back in action on Sept. 4 as they host Jamestown University at 3 p.m., at Cougar Field.
