ST. PAUL, Minn. – Three student-athletes from the University of Minnesota Morris were named Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Athletes of the Week for the period of Jan. 12–18, as announced Tuesday, Jan. 20. The Cougars swept the basketball awards, with
Carvin Fish and
Grace Perry earning honors, while
Amaya Willis was named Field Athlete of the Week.
Fish earned his second UMAC Player of the Week award of the season. The sophomore forward led UMM across three games, totaling 69 points. His best performance came at the University of Northwestern, where he scored 29 points while shooting 12-of-16 from the field, 1-of-4 from behind the arc, and 4-of-6 from the free-throw line. Against North Central University, Fish recorded a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
This marks Perry's first career Player of the Week honor. The junior guard recorded a double-double in each game she played last week. Beginning with the UMAC Game of the Week, Perry totaled 17 points and 10 rebounds for her first collegiate double-double. She followed that performance with another double-double three days later at the University of Northwestern, scoring 12 points and grabbing 13 rebounds in the win. The Moorhead, Minn., native fished the week with six assists and four steals.
Willis earned her first career UMAC Field Athlete of the Week honor and became the program's first award winner since the 2024 season. At the Ole Opener, Willis won the weight throw with a distance of 14.47 meters, a new personal record and the eighth-best mark in program history. The sophomore thrower currently leads the UMAC by more than a meter in the weight throw.
Both basketball teams return to action on Wednesday at Crown College. The women tip off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:15 p.m.
The track and field team's next meet is Saturday at the CSB/SJU Alumni and Friends Meet.
