Women’s Swim and Dive Wins Fifth Meet of the Season on Senior Day

MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's swim and dive team closed out the regular season with a 117–22 victory over Iowa Lakes Community College on Friday night in Morris, Minn.

During the meet, four seniors—Shannon Dougherty, Bethany Knopp, Lucia Rainbow, and Natalie West—were recognized on Senior Day.
 
The Cougars opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, as the team of Rhio Fay, Kaitlyn Mello, Haidyn Friborg, and Eve Zimmerman took first place. The first-place finishes continued for UMM, with McKenna Falak and Dougherty winning the 200-yard freestyle and 50-yard freestyle, respectively. Kennedy Olson added the team's fourth consecutive win by taking first in the 400-yard individual medley.
 
In diving, Brynna York won both the one-meter and three-meter events. Sam Haaf captured her first win of the meet in the 100-yard butterfly. Dougherty and Rylie Wendt earned first-place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke, respectively. Falak secured another victory in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:35.75. To close out the meet, UMM won the 400-yard freestyle relay with the team of Fay, Falak, Faith Hamm, and Dougherty. Overall, the Cougars won 11 of the 12 events.
 
The Cougars now turn their focus to the postseason, competing next at the Liberal Arts Championships beginning on February 11.
