Women’s Tennis Kicks Off the 2026 Season Against SFU and GAC

MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's tennis team opens the 2026 season with two tough opponents on Saturday. The Cougars will face Division II Sioux Falls University at 1 p.m., followed by No. 20 Gustavus Adolphus College at 4 p.m.

The Cougars are coming off a 3–10 overall season, finishing 2–3 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play. In the preseason coaches poll, Minnesota Morris was selected third in the North Division. Dimitri Sofias enters his first season as the head coach of the program. Allison Bruhn, who played at No. 1 last season, returns for her senior year.
 
Sioux Falls finished the 2025 season with a 9–12 overall record and a 7–2 mark in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play, the third-best record in the conference. Kevin Grebin is in his 25th season with the program. Ella Hancock was named USF's Player to Watch entering the 2026 season.
 
Gustavus Adolphus enters the season ranked 20th in Division III. Jon Carlson is in his 36th season as the head coach of GAC women's tennis. The Gusties opened the season by defeating Division II Minnesota State University, Mankato 6–1 last weekend. Last season, GAC went 27–8 overall and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. Karina Elvestrom competed at the No. 1 position in her first year at Gustavus and also played No. 1 in the opening match this season.
