Cougars Battled Tough Opponents to Kick Off the 2026 Season

| Box Score 2 ST. PETER, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's tennis team faced two tough opponents to kick off the 2026 season, falling to Division II University of Sioux Falls and No. 20 Gustavus Adolphus College.
 
Match 1
In the first match of the season, the doubles teams of Kristen Müller and Katharine Kelm, along with Mariah Mireles and Avery Davis, were able to take at least one game from their Division II opponent in Sioux Falls.
 
In singles play, five of the six Cougars were able to take at least one game, with Jhazlyn Wynne leading the team by winning six games, including back-to-back games in the second set. Müller, Kelm, and Mireles each won three games in their first singles matches of the 2026 season.
 
Match 2
The Cougars had little rest before jumping into their second match of the day against the 20th-ranked team in Division III. In doubles play, Mireles and Davis were able to take a game, but UMM ultimately fell 3-0 to Gustavus Adolphus College.
 
In singles action, Mireles again led the Cougars, taking five games from the Gusties' No. 3 singles player. Katelyn Money and Allison Bruhn were also able to take a game in their respective matches.
 
The Cougars return to action on Friday, when they will face two more Division II opponents in the University of Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State University.
