Box Score OWATONNA, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's tennis team earned its first match victory of the season, defeating Buena Vista University 5-2 Sunday evening in Owatonna, Minn.
 
In doubles play, Allison Bruhn and Jhazlyn Wynne won their match 6-0, while Mariah Mireles and Avery Davis secured a 6-4 victory to clinch the doubles point. Kristen Müller and Katharine Kelm won two games in their doubles match.
 
In singles action, Kelm continued the momentum, winning in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-1. The Beavers tied the match at 2-2 after claiming the No. 1 and No. 6 singles matches. The Cougars did not drop another match from that point on. Mireles earned a win at the No. 3 position, 2-1 (3-6, 6-3, 6-0). Müller sealed the team victory with a 2-1 win (6-3, 3-6, 7-5) at the No. 2 position, and Wynne capped the match with a 2-1 victory (5-7, 7-5, 6-0) at No. 4 singles.
 
The Cougars will face two tough opponents next week as they take on the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and Division II Bemidji State University on Feb. 28 beginning at 12:30 p.m.
