MORRIS, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's basketball team hosts the University of Wisconsin-Superior in the semifinals of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Last week, the Cougars closed the regular season going 1-1 to finish with a 12-13 overall record and went 9-3 in the conference, falling to Bethany Lutheran College 72-52 before defeating UW-Superior 74-65 to earn a home playoff game. In the loss,
Maddy Grove led the team with 22 points. At UWS, the Cougars trailed by 15 at halftime but rallied for the win, with Grove and
Gianna Klarenbeek each scoring a team-high 19 points.
The Cougars had the highest-scoring offense in the UMAC during conference play, averaging 71.2 points per game. Grove led the conference with 19.0 points per game, while Klarenbeek ranked seventh at 12.0 ppg. This season, Grove has totaled 473 points, the fifth-most in a single season at UMM. Minnesota Morris led the conference in field goal percentage at .406. Klarenbeek leads the team with 80 assists.
Defensively,
Shelby Mortenson leads the team with 156 rebounds and ranks sixth in the UMAC at 6.2 per game.
Grace Perry ranks 10th in the conference, averaging 5.5 rebounds per game. As a team, the Cougars lead the conference with 38.6 rebounds per game. UMM also ranks first in blocked shots, led by Mortenson's 38. Grove is second in the conference in steals, averaging 2.6 per game.
UW-Superior finished the regular season 10-15 overall and third in the UMAC at 7-5. The Yellowjackets ended the season on a three-game losing streak, dropping games to Crown College (50-47) and Minnesota Morris (74-65) last week. Hope Carlson leads the team in scoring with 215 points, followed by Megan Schafer with 200. Defensively, Charlotte Ferstl ranks third in the conference in rebounding, averaging 7.0 per game.
The Cougars went 2-0 against the Yellowjackets during the regular season, winning 59-48 and 74-65. In the first matchup, Minnesota Morris held UWS to just one point in the third quarter, with Grove leading the team with 28 points. In game two, the Cougars rallied from a 15-point deficit, as Grove and Klarenbeek each scored a team-high 19 points.
