Box Score 2 HONOLULU, Hawaii – The University of Minnesota Morris softball team fell 11-3 to No. 19 Chapman College and 10-0 to Occidental College Tuesday afternoon in Honolulu, Hawaii.

GAME 1
Alyssa Thornton had the first hit of the game in the bottom of the first with a single to center field. In the circle, Thornton recorded her first strikeout of the game to get the final out of the second inning.

Chapman took the lead in the third inning, scoring three runs, and then added two more in the fourth.
Marissa Anderson had her first hit of the season with a single to shortstop in the bottom of the fourth but was left stranded.

The Cougars got on the board in the fifth inning.
Isabelle Derhak started the inning with a leadoff walk. A single from
Taylor Johnson put runners on the corners with one out. Johnson stole second, and an error on the throw allowed
Skylar Morris to score from third.
Olivia Losee hit a ball deep to right field, allowing Johnson to tag from third to make the score 9-2.

Morris started the seventh inning with a leadoff triple to right field. Losee drew a walk to put two on with one out. She then tried to steal second but was thrown out, giving Morris the chance to score and make the final score 11-3.

The Cougars totaled six hits, each from a different student-athlete. UMM also totaled three walks from Losee,
GingerAnn Lucas, and Derhak. Losee recorded the sole RBI for Minnesota Morris, while Morris scored two runs and Johnson tallied the other.

Thornton started the game in the circle, pitching three innings with one strikeout, no walks, and two earned runs allowed. Anderson entered to pitch the next 1.1 innings, and
Morgan Wilhelm pitched the final 2.2 innings.

GAME 2
Lucas started game two with a leadoff single to right field but was left on base. Occidental started the game fast with an eight-run first inning to take control.

In the following inning,
Kendra Schmitz singled and then advanced to second on an error.
Ashley Albert singled to put runners on the corners for UMM. A double steal attempt was unsuccessful as Schmitz was thrown out at the plate. Those would be the final baserunners for the Cougars as Occidental won 10-0.

Minnesota Morris totaled three hits from Lucas, Schmitz, and Albert. Wilhelm pitched for the Cougars, going four innings.

The Cougars have an off day tomorrow before returning to action Thursday against Dickinson College and Kenyon College, with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.
