MORRIS, Minn. – Six members of the University of Minnesota Morris men's and women's basketball teams were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, announced March 24.
To qualify for this award, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50, and must have competed in 90 percent of games this season or started in at least 66 percent of them.
On the women's team,
Maddy Grove,
Gianna Klarenbeek,
Grace Perry, and
Claire Stark all earned the honor.
This is Grove's second time earning CSC Academic All-District honors. Grove started all 26 games and is majoring in sport management. This season, the junior guard earned Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year, leading the conference with 485 points.
Klarenbeek earned her first CSC Academic All-District honor. In her first season with the team, the junior guard started 25 games and is majoring in exercise science. Klarenbeek scored 241 points on the season and earned UMAC All-Conference Second Team honors.
Perry also earned CSC Academic All-District honors for the first time in her career. This season, she started 25 games and is an exercise science major. Perry was named UMAC All-Conference Honorable Mention and was a two-time UMAC Athlete of the Week.
Stark has earned CSC Academic All-District honors for the second year in a row. The junior forward started 25 games while playing in 26 and is a business and management major. Stark totaled 179 points and 103 rebounds.
On the men's side,
Kaden Pieper and
Thomas Tiernan earned the honor.
This is Pieper's first time earning the honor. The junior guard started all 27 games, totaling 477 points. Pieper is majoring in business management and minoring in coaching. He was named UMAC All-Conference First Team following his first season with the Cougars.
Tiernan earned CSC Academic All-District honors for the second time at UMM. The senior guard is an elementary education major and started 24 games while playing in 26. This season, Tiernan scored 174 points, had 69 rebounds, and recorded 37 assists.
