COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's track & field team competed in its first outdoor meet of the season at the Optimistic Meet in Collegeville, Minn., on Saturday.
Mary Watry recorded two program top-10 performances for the Cougars.
Sylvia Pesch competed in the first track event for the Cougars, setting a new personal record in the 1,500 meters with a time of 5:18.72. In the 100-meter hurdles, Watry placed seventh with a time of 16.99, the ninth-fastest time in program history.
Nibras Luqman led UMM in the 100 meters, placing 11th. Watry added another top-10 performance in the 400-meter hurdles, placing eighth with a time of 1:13.63.
In field events,
Siri Overturf and
Kat Placido placed seventh and ninth, respectively, in the weight throw.
Natalie Enright led UMM in the javelin.
Payton Stangl led the Cougars in the discus, placing 12th with a throw of 34.80 meters.
The Cougars will compete next on April 3 at the Stomper Open in Mankato, Minn.
