Box Score CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Morris softball team was defeated 4-0 by Division II University of Minnesota Crookston on Wednesday afternoon in Crookston, Minn.
GingerAnn Lucas reached base in the first inning after a pitcher's error, and a wild pitch advanced her to second.
Olivia Losee reached on a fielder's choice, then stole second, and an error moved her to third, but she was left stranded. After the first two UMC batters reached base,
Alyssa Thornton retired the next three batters to escape the inning without allowing a run.

Kennedy Biegler and
Mary Landherr recorded hits in the third and fourth innings, respectively, but the score remained 0-0 heading into the fifth. The Golden Eagles took the lead in the bottom of the fifth, scoring three runs. Minnesota Crookston added a home run in the sixth to secure the 4-0 victory.

The Cougars totaled two hits in the contest, from Biegler and Landherr. Lucas reached base twice on a pair of errors. In the circle, Thornton pitched six innings, striking out eight and allowing four earned runs.

The Cougars wrap up Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play this weekend as they host the University of Wisconsin for a three-game series starting Friday at 3 p.m.
