Ohman Wins Hammer Throw and Discus at UMAC Championship

SUPERIOR, Wis. – The University of Minnesota Morris women's track & field team placed fifth at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday in Superior, Wis. Jordan Ohman won both the hammer throw and discus on the final day of the UMAC Championship.
 
To start day two, the team of April Knight, Eve Zimmerman, Mary Watry, and Nibras Luqman placed fifth in the 4x100-meter relay. Sylvia Pesch ran a personal best in the 1,500 meters, finishing 11th. Watry scored in the 100-meter hurdles with an eighth-place finish. In the 400 meters, Luqman placed fourth with a time of 1:03.11, scoring five points for UMM. Pesch added a sixth-place finish in the 5,000 meters. To wrap up the track events, the team of Watry, Lilly Ronholdt, Zimmerman, and Luqman finished sixth in the 4x400-meter relay.
 
The Cougars shined in the hammer throw, taking six of the top eight spots. Ohman won the event with a throw of 43.09 meters. Siri Overturf, Kat Placido, Gretchen Andresen, and Kylie Elmes followed, with Amaya Willis placing seventh. In the discus, Ohman also took first place with a throw of 38.99 meters. Minnesota Morris placed fourth through sixth as well, with Samantha Dotzenrod, Payton Stangl, and Willis finishing in those spots, respectively. Watry added two more points for UMM in the triple jump with a seventh-place finish.
