Four Softball Student-Athletes Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

MORRIS, Minn. – Four members of the University of Minnesota Morris softball team were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, announced May 26.
 
To qualify for this award, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50, and must have competed in 90 percent of games this season or started in at least 66 percent of them.
 
This is Mary Landherr's second year earning the award. Landherr graduated with a degree in environmental science. This season, she played in 33 games and started 32, mostly as a catcher for UMM. Landherr earned Upper Midwest Athletic Conference All-Conference Honorable Mention honors to wrap up her senior season.
 
In her first season eligible, Taylor Johnson was named CSC Academic All-District. Johnson is majoring in elementary education. The sophomore shortstop started 30 games and had a batting average of .352. Johnson also earned UMAC All-Conference Honorable Mention honors to end the season.
 
Courtney Smith earned CSC Academic All-District honors for the first time in her career. The Champlin Park, Minn., native is majoring in psychology. Smith played in the outfield during her junior season and was often called upon to pinch run. She ended the season with nine stolen bases and was not caught stealing.
 
For the second time in her career at UMM, Morgan Wilhelm earned CSC Academic All-District honors. The senior pitcher graduated with a degree in English and creative writing, along with a minor in Spanish. Wilhelm pitched in 15 games, throwing 72.1 innings to finish seventh all-time in innings pitched at Minnesota Morris.
