After serving as Interim Director of Athletic Communications during the 2020-21 year, Alex Keil has been named the new Director of Athletic Communications for the University of Minnesota Morris as 2021-22 begins. Keil has more than a decade of experience in the industry, including five years at the NCAA Division I level and a prior stint at Illinois College, a Division III institution.
Keil began his career with internships at Miami University (Ohio) and the Mid-American Conference before spending two years at the University of Pennsylvania. His final year working at the Division I level came in 2013-14 at Jacksonville University.
In 2014-15, Keil moved to the Division III level and began a six-year spell at Illinois College. Beginning as the Director of Sports Information and ending as the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications, he was responsible for all coverage of the school's 23 varsity sports. Along the way, Keil promoted a CoSIDA Division III Academic All-America of the Year in football and a finalist for the Gagliardi Trophy. In 2017, he was named Division III SID of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Keil resides in Morris with his wife, Bianca, the Head Women's Soccer Coach at Minnesota Morris, and their daughters, Victoria and Sofía. After doing his undergraduate at St. Ambrose University, Keil recently graduated with a Master's degree in Sports Management from Minot State University.
