UMM falls to CSS

Cougar offense stymied

Duluth, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Morris Women's Soccer team lost a close match today (Sept. 25) falling to St. Scholastica 1-0.

In a defensive battle, the first shot didn't come until the 24th minute by Katie Kestner (Phoenix, Ariz.). The game remained tied until the 44th minute, when a shot by Shannon Carlson got behind the Goalkeeper Emily Jacob (Minneapolis) and into the net to give St. Scholastica a 1-0 lead right before half time.

It remained at tough battle in the second half between UMM and CSS, with little shots to spare. The Saints defense was tough to get through with not allowing the Cougars to get a shot on goal. Jacob played tough for UMM with not allowing a goal for the rest of the game.

The Cougars continue their weekend road trip by playing Northland (Ashland, Wis.) tomorrow (Sept. 26) afternoon at 1:00 PM.

The Cougars will return home to continue UMAC conference play next weekend against Bethany Lutheran College on Friday October 1st at 2:00 PM and will play Martin Luther College on Saturday October 2nd at 12:00 PM.
