The Cougar volleyball team gets back on the road this weekend, traveling to Northwestern and Crown on Oct. 21 and 22. They will also mix in a nonconference match with UW-Stout as they try to put a late season winning streak together.

Last time out
The Cougars have been in a slump lately, dropping five of their last six matches. Earlier this week they fell twice in non-conference action, losing 3-0 to No. 9 ranked Concordia-Moorhead, and 3-2 to Mayville State out of the NAIA. Last weekend in UMAC play, the Cougars dropped a thriller to nemesis St. Scholastica 3-2, before winning 3-0 over Northland.

Northwestern has been streaking through the UMAC, and through their season, winning 14 straight. Most recently, they took a pair of 3-0 matches, over Martin Luther and Bethany Lutheran respectively.

A struggling Storm squad has won just once in their last six matches, including a 3-0 nonconference setback to Augsburg earlier this week. Last weekend in UMAC play they fell 3-1 to Bethany Lutheran, before being swept by Martin Luther.

Earlier this season
Earlier this season in the P.E. Center, the Cougars played one of their best games of the year, but still came up short against the Eagles, losing in four sets. No set was decided by more than three points, and the match saw the score tied 19 times with 11 lead changes.

In their first meeting with the Storm, the Cougars cruised to a sweep, hitting .222 while holding Crown to just .110. Kaylie Clark and Steph Schmiesing each notched double digit kills, as the Cougars won each set by at least five points.
