The Cougar volleyball team continues nonconference action this weekend, with a grueling slate of matches at the Blazer Invitational on Sept. 16 and 17.

Morris opens play at 5:00 p.m. on Friday matching up with Simpson, before closing the day with a 7:00 p.m. tangle with St. Scholastica, playing their UMAC foe in non-conference action.

Then on Saturday, things get started early with an 11:00 a.m. rematch with Simpson before rounding out the weekend with host St. Benedict at 1:00 p.m.

Simpson went 17-17 last season with a 5-3 mark in the always tough IIAC, while St. Ben's went 18-12 with a 6-6 MIAC record. And of course, St. Scholastica went 28-7 last season with a perfect 14-0 UMAC record.

CSS has been their usual dominant self, running to a 9-3 record so far this season, while making an appearance in the top-25 last week. Simpson has gotten off to a rough start at 1-5, while St. Ben's has played an even 5-5.

At 5-1 the Cougars are off to their best start since Chad Braegelmann took over, ripping off five straight wins after a season opening loss. After sweeping through NAIA opponents Mayville State and Mount Marty last week, the Cougars Kaylie Clark earned UMAC Player of the Week honors for her 19 kills in the two matches.

Clark recently spoke with UMMCougars.org about the Cougars winning streak and their upcoming weekend.
