Box Score

Pella, Iowa – The Minnesota Morris women's soccer team, playing over 95 minutes of scoreless soccer today (Sept. 5), but a single goal in the 96th minute was enough to lift Central (Iowa) to a 1-0 victory.

Central's Alayna Bailey scored the game's only goal at 95:26, making good on her third shot of the day.

Cougars fall to 1-2 on the year with the loss, while Central stays unbeaten at 2-0.

Morris amassed 12 shots on the day, led by four from Leah Parker (Minnetonka, Minn.). An early header from Parker went wide, while twice she had shots blocked by the defense. Just one of her shots made it into the keeper's hands, which was one of only two shots on goal for the Cougars all day.

Central took 13 shots in the match, and found their target more often, with five going on goal. Morris goalkeeper RiAnne Metz (Bismarck, N.D.) finished with four saves, just one off her career high, five, from Sept. 3.

The overtime loss is the first for the Cougars in over a year, as they went 2-0-2 last season when playing over 90:00 minutes.

They have now dropped two straight since opening the season with a 2-0 win over North Central. Morris will look to get back on the winning track when they play their home opener on Sept. 10 against UW-Superior at 1:00 p.m. on Cougar Field. The Cougar men will follow after at 3:00 p.m.
