MORRIS, Minn. – Coming off a big 54-20 win over Westminster last Saturday the Cougars will now head to Eureka, Illinois to take on the Red Devils at 1:00 p.m. It could be a high scoring affair with the two teams averaging 20+ points and giving up 27+ points.
GAME NOTES
Expect a lot of yards through the air as the Red Devils average 276.8 yards per game and the Cougars average 226.5 yards per game. However over the last five games the Red Devils are averaging 185 yards per game. Sam Durley, the Red Devils quarterback threw for 736 in the season opener, setting the NCAA record.
The fact that both teams throw the ball does not mean they ignore the run, UMM has 213 rushing attempts and Eureka has 225 on the year. Morris holds the advantage averaging 114.7 rushing yards per game compared to the Red Devils 91.7 per game.
The key could come down to third down conversion, Eureka converts 40% of their third downs where UMM is converting at a 30% clip. Another key to look at be the special teams where Morris holds the advantage in returns yards.
