Cougars Axe LumberJills in Four

MORRIS, Minn. – Thanks to 11 kills from Abby Tietz, Minnesota Morris (17-7, 6-3 UMAC) was able to get back to its winning ways beating Northland (8-16, 4-5 UMAC) 3-1 (25-10, 25-15, 23-25, 25-12) on Saturday. The Cougars would out hit the LumberJillsm.237 to -.063 on the afternoon.
 
The only set the Cougars allowed the LumberJills to hit a positive percentage was the second set when they hit .062.
Morris had 61 digs on the afternoon including 20 from Kaylie Clark and 12 from Emily Auch.
 
In the first set the Cougars turned a 7-5 lead into a 25-10 set win finishing off the set on an 18-5 run.
 
Morris went ahead early in set two and never looked back as the LumberJills never recovered after UMM went up 3-0. There were no ties or lead changes as Morris took the set 25-15.
 
The LumberJills battled hard in the third set never letting the Cougars get any breathing room. Leading 23-19 the Cougars could not manage to make the knockout punch as Northland scored six straight points to win the set 25-23.
 
Minnesota Morris would not let the same thing happen in the fourth set jumping out 17-4. Michelle Hanson served 10 straight point including three aces during an 11-0 run for the Cougars. UMM would go on to win the set 25-12.
