Box Score MORRIS, Minn. - The Cougars (13-6, 4-2 UMAC) had four hitters with 10+ kills on the night beating Northwestern (14-8, 5-1 UMAC) 21-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-20.
Emily Auch, 13 kills, and
Jennifer Schmidt, 12 kills, led the way for Minnesota Morris offensively.
Allie Humphrey had a season high ten kills on the night to help the Cougars.
Abby Tietz added 11 kills as the fourth player to have more than ten kills on the night.
Kaylie Clark had 20 digs and Auch had 12 to help the defense. Minnesota Morris had 54 digs on the night, which helped raise money for breast cancer research on the Dig Pink night.
Hannah Knot was big at the net with four solo blocks and three block assists on the night. It was the most solo blocks in a single match in Knot's career.
Minnesota Morris will now play North Central tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. in the P.E. Center.
The first set had nine tie score and six lead changes as Northwestern went one set to none. It was just as tight in the second set with eight ties and six lead changes but it was UMM who scored two points off attack errors to end the set. Schmidt and Humphrey teamed up on the block to give the Cougars the set two victory.
The score was tied four times in set three but the Cougars never trailed winning 25-22. In set four Minnesota Morris went up 3-0 and never let the Eagles tie it up winning the fourth set 25-20.
