The men reached the NCAA Tournament last season, for the first time in school history, beating St. Scholastica in a shootout despite losing to them twice in the regular season. The Cougars will hope to repeat the recipe after falling in two close matches this year to the Saints. The Cougars lost 3-1 in Duluth and then fell 2-1 at home. In both matches cards were a talking point as UMM played down a man in the first match for nearly 35 minutes, during that span the Saints were able to put the game away with a pair of goals. In the match in Morris it was the Saints who had a player sent off with about 25 minutes left but the Saints were able to overcome scoring a goal in the final minute.

Last year the Cougars and Saints drew to a 2-2 tie and the Cougars prevailed in the shootout 6-5. That match also saw a red card as the Saints played the final seven minutes of regulation down a man and the remaining overtime period as well.

On the women's the Cougars and Saints have split the season series, with the road team winning both match ups. The Cougars ended the Saints 99 UMAC match winnings streak with a 1-0 win but fell 1-0 at Cougar Field.

On the year the Cougars have had 12 shutouts and will hope that 13 is their lucky number tomorrow. Minnesota Morris ranks in the top in the nation in shutouts per match.

The Cougars are looking to make their first trip to the NCAA Tournament with a win on Saturday afternoon.
