Box Score MORRIS, Minn. - Minnesota Morris (3-5) picked up a their biggest win of the year in terms of winning margin by beating the Mayville State Comets (3-6) 75-58 on Friday night. The Cougars bench came up big as they scored 44 of their 75 points on the night.
Tyler Pendleton did not miss on the night scoring 17 points including four three pointers.
The 17 points for Pendleton set his career high.
Ben Hoidal added 15 points and
Brendon Foss added 11 for the Cougars. Minnesota Morris shot 63.4% on the night; they were 12-17 in the first half including going 5-7 from behind the three point arc. The hot shooting led to a 39-23 halftime lead. The lead would get as large as 19 in the first half as Pendleton's third three pointer gave UMM the 39-20 lead.
Morris built up their lead in the second half as they outscored Mayville 12-3 in the first five and half minutes to take a 25 point lead. It would be their largest lead of the game as the Comets could not get any closer than 12 in the second half. The Cougars countered the Comets after they had cut the lead to 12 with a 6-0 run and over the next two minutes to clinch the win.
The Cougars are off until next Thursday when they travel to take on St. John's at 7:00 p.m.
