Box Score MORRIS, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Morris Cougars (4-2, 3-0 UMAC) coming off a big win at St. Scholastica, continued their winning ways with a 5-0 win over Martin Luther (2-5, 1-2 UMAC). Their current winning streak is now at four matches.
The Cougars came out firing early with five shot, one on goal in the first 18 minutes of play. It paid off with a goal from sophomore
Kelsi Kolle, with the assist coming from junior
Zoe Bergstrom at the 22
nd minute.
Just 17 minutes later the Cougars would strike the twine again as
Katie Kestner headed the corner kick in to the net on the kick from from
Zoe Bergstrom in the 39
th minute.
At the half, the Cougars had a commanding 2-0 lead.
The Cougars picked up where they left off with as freshman
Emma LaChance recording her first goal of her career at the 50
th minute. Megan Laird picked up the assist on LaChance's goal.
The Cougars continued to hit the net with
Zoe Bergstrom scoring twice in the 2
nd half with assists coming from
Ally Heida and
Rachael Berns.
Stellar passing and consistent shots on goal led to the Cougar's 2 first half goals. On the other side of the ball, the Cougars teamwork and hustle kept Martin Luther scoreless.
Zoe Bergstrom finished the match with two goals and two assists.
Rikki Beaver shut the Knights out, pick up her fourth straight shutout.
The Cougars will be back in action Saturday as they travel to take on Bethany Lutheran in Mankato.
